The virtuosic and opulent style of Yves Saint Laurent was the inspiration for this villa in Potsdam. Under the expert direction of the Düsseldorf interior design studio Klein Associates, architare sensitively and meticulously realised this wish with elegant furniture by Walter Knoll, custom-made carpets, elaborate curtain decorations, hand-embroidered bed linen and china by Hermès.
Wohnjuwel at the wannsee
The interior design studio Klein Associates implemented an impressive overall concept for the house on the lake, which was built at the beginning of the 19th century. Collaborating with top-class partners Deutsche Werkstätten Hellerau was responsible for the interior fittings, KMD Gotha for the natural stone work and REVO-LUCE provided technical assistance for the interior designers' lighting concept. Barbara Benz and her architare team composed the entire furniture and textile furnishings.
The combination of precious materials, finely coordinated colours, dreamy optics and auspicious shine exudes casual opulence culminating a salon style à la Yves Saint Laurent in a 21st century version. "We planned every detail, even which Versace bowl to put on the dining table," says Barbara Benz.
The owner of the house was suitably thrilled because he was able to move in with his family in time for Christmas after a year of planning, in a house that the architare team had festively decorated and where even the bed linen with embroidered initials was freshly washed and waiting for the new residents to arrive.
