Making of auf Mykonos

A detailed furnishing concept that needed to be ready within three days ! A delivery deadline that was tight, despite numerous custom-made items due to the fact that the client wanted to spend his summer holidays in his holiday residence three months later.  Combined with narrow and steep roads making deliv-eries by truck challenging. When furnishing this spectacular holiday villa on the Greek island of Mykonos, architare had to pass numerous tests but the interior design professionals mastered them all with flying colours …

From Stuttgart to Mykono
As agreed with the client, architare delivered on time in mid-July. As is usual with all worldwide deliveries, the furnishing company in cooperation with its logistics partners took care of the complete logistics, including all export formalities. From Stuttgart, the furniture was driven by truck to Piraeus, where it was loaded onto a cargo ship and then delivered to the holiday villa on Mykonos by two trucks. Barbara Benz, the managing director of architare, and Katharina Schott, planning and project manager, were already waiting there to supervise and coordinate the assembly and implementation of the concept.

Elegant - inside and out
The holiday home not only incorporates elegant interiors but also several terraces, which had to be designed in a varied way. The large terraces were designed as "outdoor rooms" with seating groups, dining area, loungers and daybeds.

For the covered dining area, architare chose the "Sciara" table by Paola Lenti. The tiles are particularly unique being produced from lava stone, cut in different sizes then covered with molten glass. The colour-coordinated outdoor armchairs "Ami" are as comfortable as they look. The upholstery in a striking knitted look is made of water-repellent polyurethane. For the "outdoor living room", Barbara Benz chose the outdoor sofa, armchairs and récamière from the "Erica" collection by B&B Italia.

Perfectly made to measure
The cushions are custom-made. One of the owner's employees drew the template for the stone bench on site and architare delivered the cushions with a perfect fit. They are made of multi-layer cold foam and are as comfortable as a high-quality designer sofa. When the cushions were delivered, the reaction was great also because they fitted exactly to the millimeter!

Finely coordinated colours
As soon as you enter the villa you are impressed with the casually elegant ambience and its finely coordinated colour scheme, bringing together the interior and exterior. In the living and dining areas, elegant furniture by Walter Knoll such as the "Jaan" sofa and the "Oki Table" as well as design classics such as the Saarinen table and the Saarinen chairs create a clear basic mood. Special highlights are the designer lamps by Brokis and Kartell which evenly illuminate the rooms. The chandelier above the dining table is suitably spectacular. The "Sultans of Swing" by Brand van Egmond is a modern chandelier that gives any room a very special character.
