The Tolomeo table lamp was designed by Michele de Lucchi in 1986. During development, the designer was inspired by the construction of the trabucchi, the ancient fishing gallows from Puglia. The idea was to use a small lever arm and a cable to hang a pole to which something could then be attached. This frame of reference inspired de Lucchi when designing the Tolomeo, which has since become an iconic design object.
