The ingenious combination of spring core and under-mattress is called Boxspring, and it’s the saviour of sensational sleep. According to recent studies, it’s far superior to the usual combination in Germany of a slatted base with mattress. They know exactly what it’s about in the workshops at the Schramm factory. The Rhineland-Palatinate Winnweiler has been manufacturing pocket spring core mattresses. by hand for more than 90 years – for sheiks and diplomats, medical doctors and first-class hotels. The unsurpassed sleeping comfort of its two-mattress system is based on the synergy effect created by the highly elastic, flexible upper mattress and a stable and powerfully responsive under-mattress. The supporting force of each Schramm mattress is determined by the choice of different spring core formulas, individually adjusted to the weight and anatomy of the body, so that each mattress is tailor-made.
Sleeping well requires air. For that reason Schramm uses selected natural materials such as pure sheep’s wool from French free-range sheep, cotton, silk, linen, cashmere and naturally renewable Talalay latex. To obtain the best bed climate, the upholstery materials are joined together by a special stitch, and not glued together in an almost airtight manner, as customary. The air can circulate freely in all directions between the upper and lower mattresses.
In this way purely hand-made unique mattresses, that take into account human parameters, are created. Schramm is the only manufacturer that applies an oven heat treatment method on its pocket spring mattresses Grand Cru no. 1, Divina and Mythos. Its springs are; thus, resistant to fatigue and overload.
And because each single six-gear-, nine-gear- and twelve-gear cylindrical spring is sewn into its own canvas pocket, it can respond almost independently from the next one and adjust itself closely to the contours and movements of the body –centimetre by centimetre.
